PE at Intake Farm

The Ethos Of Physical Education at Intake Farm Primary

At Intake Farm Primary School we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the children.  In addition, it is considered that an outstanding PE curriculum and a variety of extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of the children.

The Head Teacher and PE Co-ordinator are committed to ensure that all pupils receive at least 2 hours of high quality well-planned PE per week delivered by confident and well-trained teachers.  The successful delivery of the curriculum supports all aspects of Health Education within the school.  Regular staff training is provided to teachers and TA's to keep them abreast of new initiatives, ensuring that PE is a high profile subject.  Monitoring of lessons ensures that they are planned and delivered to a high quality, guaranteeing both pupil achievement and enjoyment.  The school holds some in school sports events, which all children participate in.

Along side the 2 hours PE lessons a week. Intake understand the value and benefits of daily physical activity. We promote  60 minutes daily Physical activity ,by including physical activity in other curriculum subjects, daily use of our daily mile track, morning wake and shake up routines, use our school Sports Crew to engage children in fun physical activities at lunch time and offer a range of after school physical activities.

Our equipment is up to date and regulated each term and new stock is brought each year and it is important that a large part of the budget is allocated towards P.E. provision throughout the school.

Primary school experiences are pivotal to the children’s future perception of physical activity and the enthusiasm and enjoyment of the pupils at Intake Farm Primary School is testament to the passion and dedication of all staff.  Pupils leave the school equipped to enjoy sport for all its health and social benefits.  For those who relish the competitive element, they gain the skills, confidence and relevant experience to succeed at their chosen level and discipline.
