A very warm welcome to the Ducks class. As part of the Foundation Stage, the Ducks class develops the foundations for learning throughout school. We equip children with the skills to play, explore, think critically and become active learners. We believe in valuing each child and fostering their interests and curiosity through our play-based curriculum.
We celebrate our differences and are proud to have children with families from around the world. We feel that it is important for everyone in our class to have a sense of belonging and to be proud to be part of our class. In Ducks class we speak English, Polish, Russian, Hungarian, Latvian and Malalyam.
In the Ducks class, your child will have the opportunity to participate in
In the autumn term we visited Green's Windmill where children were immersed in the process of bread making. We have visited and have received visits from St Mary's Church to learn about celebrations, including Christmas and Easter. In the spring term, we learned about people who help us and had a visit from the Police. In the summer term we are looking forward to visiting White Post Farm.
Drawing Club
We believe in nurturing children's imaginations and making learning meaningful and fun. We teach literacy through Drawing Club. Drawing Club immerses children in the world of story and shows them the joy of who we are. It allows us to share a treasure trove of vocabulary with children to open up the playground of language to them. It develop children’s creativity and imagination to show them that they are extraordinary. Drawing Club provides age-appropriate practice that is highly engaging and grounds children in the joy of sharing books.
PE
For Summer 1, our PE day is Thursday. On Thursdays, please come to school in your PE kit.
Our PE kit consists of:
- blue, black or grey shorts/joggers/ leggings
- a white polo shirt or t-shirt
- trainers and socks that children can take off independently
- school jumper
- no jewellery
Homework
Each half-term we will send home a 'home learning menu.' This will have a variety of activities, linked to our topic, for you to try at home.
Writing homework provides an opportunity for children to apply their phonics knowledge independently. It is given out every Friday, and we ask that it is returned on Wednesday for children to receive a sticker.
