Y4

Welcome to the Geese!

Hello and a big warm welcome to all our children, parents, and carers! Geese class is a fantastic year full of learning, discovery, and personal growth.

This year, the children will be exploring a wide range of exciting topics, including 'Mining in Mansfield', 'Electricity' and 'Volcanoes'. One of our key focusses will be preparing for the Multiplication Tables Check, which takes place at the end of the academic year. We'll be working on building fluency and confidence with times tables throughout the year to enable every child to feel ready and capable.

Children are able to prepare for this by accessing a timetable game on PurpleMash. Each child has a log-in and this can be located in their personal reading journals.

Staff members working in Geese Class:

Mrs Fieldwick (Teacher: Monday-Wednesday) jfieldwick@intakefarm.notts.sch.uk

I first taught at Intake Farm back in 1999, and after taking some time out to raise my children, I was delighted to return to such a wonderful school. I’ve had the opportunity to teach across all year groups, but I have a real soft spot for Year 4. I also lead science across the school, a subject I’m truly passionate about.

I can’t imagine doing anything other than teaching. It’s an incredibly rewarding career where no two days are ever the same. Watching children grow in confidence, make progress and overcome challenges is something I never tire of and always feels very special.

Mrs Bray (Teacher: Thursday and Friday) pbray@intakefarm.notts.sch.uk

Hello, I am Mrs Bray and I have been teaching at Intake Farm since 2015. I qualified from Sheffield Hallam University with a BA Hons in Education Studies (2006) and then went on to complete my PGCE the year after.  This helped me complete my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher.

I have several roles within the school, including leading maths, music and educational visits. During my career, I have had the pleasure of teaching most year groups and love being a part of the journey that every child experiences during their time at school.

DEIB - Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging

In Geese Class, we celebrate the unique backgrounds, cultures, languages and experiences that each 'Goose' has, while we actively promote and teach kindness, empathy, and understanding through 'British Values' and 'Protected Characteristics'. Our classroom is a safe space where all differences are celebrated - everyone's voice is heard, and all children are encouraged to be their true selves.

In Geese Class, we actively engage with the Anti-Racism Education Package (AREP). Through thoughtful discussions and oracy work, children learn about the impact racism can have on individuals and communities, and the role every citizen plays in promoting fairness, respect, and justice.
