Today we are learning about the number 10!

Perform 10 jumps, 10 claps, 10 hops etc.


Watch  Numberblocks S2:E5

Discuss the episode and that 1 ten or 10 ones (they are the same)


Count ten fingers. What else do you have ten of?

Can you make a number line to 10? Can you write each numeral and put them in the correct place?


What two numerals make a number 10?

Practise saying the rhymes and drawing a number ten with different parts of your body (finger, elbow, tongue, head).

Can you make a number 10 poster?

Can you draw 10 things?

Can you write the numeral 10?

Can you write number sentence to show one more and one less than 10?


Can you spot number 10 around your house? (on the phone, TV remote, cereal box etc.)

  • Sing the Alphabet song-  Can you name the letters?
  • Recap the letters previously learned: Can you say the letter name and sound and perform the action? Focus particularly on the phase three letters, more recently introduced.

  • Recap the tricky words previously learned:

  • New digraph (two letters that make one sound) 'ai'- say the sound and do the action (hold your hand to your ear like you didn't hear)
  • Sing the Jolly Phonics song
  • Practise writing 'ai' with different body parts or in different places
  • Which words have a 'ai' sound? Match them to the pictures


  • Write the 'ai' words


  • Read the sentence. Can you spot the 'ai' digraph?


Follow-up Challenge 

Practise writing 'ai' (on the sheet, paper, with chalks, paint or in mud, sand, salt or flour!)



Read or listen to the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'


Discuss what happened?
