Input (pre-recorded video on Teams)

  • Practise counting to 10 and 20 in different voices
  • Practise showing numbers to ten on your fingers ("show me one" "show me three"...)


  • Recap what is meant by 'double'
  • Practise showing doubles with your fingers. Can you show three fingers on each hand? How many fingers are you showing altogether?
  • Recap doubles on ladybirds (same on each side). Model writing the number sentence.
  • Practise saying doubles. Sing the doubles rhyme.


Follow-up challenge

  • Listen to the doubles song Double Number Song (adding double numbers 1-10) - YouTube

  • Can you go on a doubles hunt? Find things around your house and double up! (shoes, socks, toys) Can you double 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5?

  • Can you write the number sentence to show doubles to 10? e.g. 1+1=2, 2+2=4, 3+3=6....


Rainbow Grammar

  • Discuss the story of 'The Bad-Tempered Ladybird'
  • Describe the bad-tempered ladybird - behaviour, attitude, how did the ladybird treat others?

  • Can you think of other adjectives for bad-tempered? (grumpy, mean, unkind, rude)
  • Can you put your words into sentences, verbally e.g. The ladybird is nasty.



  • Think of and write a sentence about the ladybird.
  • When you have finished your sentence, work with your grown-up to try and underline each part in the Rainbow Grammar colours.



Green - Subject (who or what you are writing about)

Orange - Predicate (what the subject did or what happened)

Red - Stop (full stop)
