Homework

Your child will receive a piece of English or Mathematics homework based around our learning in class each Friday. These pieces of homework should be handed in on the following Thursday. Your child is also required to practise their weekly Spellings, which they will be tested on every Friday, when they will also receive the next week’s spellings.

We also ask that children read with an adult at home in order to support their learning in school. We will be checking reading journals weekly in school and the number of times children read will be recorded on our ‘Reading Ladder'. The children will receive a prize, which is decided by them, if they reach a set number of reads during the term (usually around 21).

We ask that children also practise their times tables while at home. Children will complete a Times Table Olympics test every other week on Fridays. There is a Times Table menu document below that gives several different ways to practise times tables and may help with your child's recall of multiplication and division facts. They can also use their PurpleMash accounts to practise multiplication facts and the Topmarks Hit the Button website, which also has an app for tablet use.
